About this file
This is a Bid Questions & Answers document for the University of Wisconsin Stout's procurement of six lathe machines. The University solicited bids for the purchase of these machines, with inquiries directed to Stephanie Ganz, UW Stout Procurement Specialist. The bid specifications call for South Bend SB1049F brand lathes; however, multiple bidders submitted questions regarding whether alternate brands of equal or superior quality would be considered as substitutes. The University consistently clarified that per Section 6 Specifications, only the specified brand will be considered and no alternate brands will be entertained.
Regarding delivery and installation requirements, the University specified that transportation to the Central Receiving dock is required, but no rigging services or installation is necessary. The University will handle internal transportation of the lathes to appropriate buildings using a forklift. The Q&A document, dated May 27, 2022, reflects the University's firm position on brand specifications while providing clarification on delivery logistics to potential bidders.
