About this opportunity

The City of Wichita, Kansas is soliciting sealed bids for the 2027 Sidewalk Maintenance project, with bids due by 10:00 a.m. on November 13, 2026, submitted electronically through the City's Procurement Portal at wichita.gov/procurementportal. The notice encourages small and emerging business enterprise participation without imposing a set-aside. Bidders must have at least three years' experience in similar services and must be registered with the Kansas Secretary of State before contract execution. The posting lists Sedgwick County as the jurisdiction.

The scope is removing and replacing sidewalk and pavement, with wheelchair ramps constructed as directed by the City Engineer. Work is geographically diverse, with condemned sections potentially at considerable distances from one another, and partial work lists are estimated between 2,000 and 20,000 square feet. Contractors must complete work within five working days per 3,500 square feet and start within ten business days of receiving the location list. Work orders issue within 30 days of award at the Engineer's approval.

Award goes to the lowest and best total net bid from a responsible and responsive vendor, within the Engineer's estimate. The contract remains in effect until budgeted funds are depleted and is cancellable on ten days' written notice. Liquidated damages of $150 per day apply to work exceeding allocated working days per list. Required security includes a bid bond of 5% of the total bid, or an annual bid bond, before opening; a performance bond equal to 100% of the contract amount; and labor and material payment bonds to the State of Kansas for at least the contract total. Commercial general liability coverage must carry minimum limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million annual aggregate, alongside comprehensive automobile liability and statutory workers' compensation. Prices must exclude duties and federal, state, and local taxes unless law imposes them.
