About this opportunity
The 2026 Joint Chemical Bid is a collaborative procurement opportunity involving the City of Cortez, Town of Dolores, Town of Mancos, and Montezuma Water Company in Colorado, seeking chemical supplies for water, wastewater, and swimming pool treatment. The solicitation is an Invitation to Bid (ITB) for 19 different chemical products, including chlorine, sulfur dioxide, liquid alum, and sodium hypochlorite, with specific estimated usage quantities for the 2026 calendar year. Sealed proposals must be submitted by Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. to the Cortez Service Center, with strict submission requirements including sealed envelopes marked with "PROPOSAL: 2026 CHEMICALS" and the bidder's name. Vendors must provide Material Safety Data Sheets with their proposals and comply with current AWWA specifications. The bid allows for brand name or equivalent products and requires F.O.B. destination pricing with a minimum 30-day written notice for price changes. Delivery terms include twice-monthly scheduled deliveries for chlorine and sulfur dioxide, with demand-based delivery for other commodities.
The procurement does not explicitly mention specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Each participating organization will independently bill and collect payments, and they reserve the right to accept, reject, or partially accept bids based on their best interests. The bid covers chemical procurement for water treatment infrastructure across multiple municipal and water company entities in the region, suggesting potential integration with existing treatment facilities. While specific budget ranges are not detailed, the comprehensive nature of the solicitation, covering 19 different chemical products across four organizations, indicates a substantial procurement opportunity. Vendors will need to demonstrate technical capability to provide consistent, high-quality chemical supplies that meet precise specifications and delivery requirements. The geographical scope encompasses Morgan County and surrounding areas in Colorado, with the contract period explicitly defined from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.
