About this opportunity
The City of Cortez, Colorado is seeking competitive sealed bids for the 2025 Airport North Hangar Perimeter Fence and Emergency Gate Replacement project, located at the Cortez Municipal Airport. The procurement involves installing approximately 1,200 linear feet of 96-inch-high chain-link security fencing with three barbwire strands, an automated entrance gate with a key pad operator, a maglock pedestrian gate near the airport operations office, and replacing the north emergency access gate along County Road G. Sealed bids are due by 3:00 PM MDT on Monday, October 6, 2025, with an anticipated contract execution date of November 7, 2025. The evaluation criteria will utilize a best value bidding method, with 40% weighted toward qualifications and 60% toward bid price. Bidders must demonstrate general contracting experience, past performance, project management capabilities, safety records, and local presence, and must submit a bid bond or certified check for 5% of the total bid. The project has a 45-calendar-day completion timeline, with liquidated damages of $300 per day for unfinished work.
The procurement includes local vendor preferences, with additional consideration given to Colorado resident bidders, specifically offering a 2.5% preference for vendors within Cortez city limits and a 2.0% preference for Montezuma County vendors, with a total preference not to exceed $25,000. No specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are mentioned in the documentation. While no incumbent vendors are identified, the project requires integration with existing airport infrastructure. The bid documents do not specify a precise budget range, but the competitive bidding process and detailed project specifications suggest a municipal infrastructure investment. The project's scope and technical requirements indicate this is a specialized security and infrastructure improvement opportunity targeted at enhancing the Cortez Municipal Airport's perimeter security and access control systems.
