About this opportunity

The Candler County Board of Commissioners is seeking a qualified vendor to provide, deliver, and install a new 60KW, 120/208v Three Phase diesel generator for the Sheriff's Office and Detention Center through a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The comprehensive procurement requires complete replacement of the existing generator, including removal, proper disposal, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning with minimal operational downtime. Technical specifications mandate a diesel-powered generator with a weather-resistant housing, 24-hour diesel tank, block heater, and battery charger, accompanied by a minimum 24-month comprehensive warranty. Proposals are due by 3:00 p.m. on May 9, 2025, with vendors strongly encouraged to conduct a site visit before submission. Evaluation criteria will assess compliance with technical specifications, vendor experience, cost-effectiveness, project timeline, and warranty support. The RFP includes two alternate options: one for additional features like noise suppression and remote monitoring, and another for extended warranty periods.

The solicitation does not explicitly outline specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The RFP indicates that Candler County reserves the right to accept proposals in whole or in part and to reject all proposals, with proposal pricing remaining effective for 30 days from the due date. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed, the project involves a complete generator replacement with comprehensive installation services. Vendors must submit detailed proposals including company profile, generator specifications, removal methodology, project timeline, cost breakdown, and proof of insurance. The county will manage diesel removal and refilling, requiring contractors to provide 48-hour notice during work weeks and 96-hour notice for weekend work. The critical nature of the project stems from the generator's role in providing backup power to the Detention Center, emphasizing the importance of minimal disruption during the replacement process.

Opportunity text

The Candler County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified vendors to provide, deliver, and install a 60KW, 120/208v Three Phase generator set. The project also includes the removal and proper disposal of the existing generator currently installed at the Candler County Sheriff's Office and Detention Center. The selected vendor will be responsible for all aspects of the project, including equipment supply, removal of the old unit, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning. (Down time is to be scheduled and at a minimum because of the importance of the generator backing up power to the Detention Center) County will remove and dispose of the diesel in the existing generator and fill the generator back up (not the responsibility of the contractor, a 48 hour notice will be given during the work week and a 96 hour notice for the weekend)
