About this opportunity
The City of Edgerton, located in Wisconsin's Racine County, issued a formal Request for Bids for the procurement of up to 350 tons of standard rock salt for the 2018-19 snow removal and ice control season. The solicitation sought sealed bids for treated rock salt that meets specific technical requirements, including ASTM-D-632 Type 1, Grade 1 specifications, with a minimum 95.0 percent sodium chloride content and not exceeding 1.5 percent moisture. Bids were to be submitted on city-provided forms by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Edgerton City Hall, with a public bid opening and reading scheduled for the same time. Delivery requirements specified 20-ton (+/-) loads to be delivered to 315 West High Street in Edgerton, coordinated in advance with Tom Hartzell, Public Works Director. Bidders were required to provide pricing on an F.O.B. basis, including an initial price per ton and a subsequent price for any salt delivered beyond the initial 350 tons. Delivery tickets were mandated to be legible and include trucking firm name, gross, tare, and net weights, and delivery date.
The solicitation did not specify any set-aside designations or restrictions on respondent organizations, maintaining an open competitive bidding process. No incumbent vendors were identified in the documentation, and no specific integration requirements with existing infrastructure were mentioned. The City reserved the right to reject any or all bids and waive any informalities in the bidding process, with no guarantee of purchasing the full quantity of salt under the supplemental supply agreement. Proposals were required to remain valid for sixty (60) days following the opening date. While a specific budget range was not explicitly stated, the maximum procurement amount was set at 350 tons of rock salt. Interested vendors could obtain bid packets through the City of Edgerton's website (www.cityofedgerton.com) or by calling 608-884-3341. The solicitation represented a standard municipal procurement approach for winter road maintenance supplies.
