About this opportunity

Maine Department of Transportation is requesting bids on two nine-foot enclosed fiberglass service bodies and twelve platform bodies for mounting on 2012 model Ford F-350 chassis, with bids due December 19, 2011.

The service body scope comprises two nine-foot fiberglass units with aluminum bulkheads, minimum interior dimensions of 107 by 90 by 73 inches, specified floor construction, doors, hinges, shelving, LED lighting, and paint finishes. The platform body scope includes five line items totaling twelve units: four nine-foot bodies with step kits; three nine-foot bodies with swing gate and step kits; two nine-foot bodies with dump and lift gate systems; two twelve-foot bodies with swing gate and step kits; and one twelve-foot body with dump and step kit. Nine-foot bodies mount on Ford F-350 chassis with 60-inch cab-to-axle dimensions and 13,300-pound GVW rating; twelve-foot bodies require diesel chassis with 84-inch cab-to-axle dimensions. All bodies must be black. Optional platform equipment includes lift gates with 1,500-pound minimum capacity, hydraulic hoist dump systems with 6,000-pound minimum capacity and 45-degree dumping angle, and pull-out steps with 350-pound weight capacity.

All electrical systems must comply with FMVSS #108. Bidders must certify service-facility availability in Maine with trained technicians and stocked repair parts, provide manufacturer brochures and specification sheets, and include manufacturers' standard warranty terms commencing on in-service date. Pricing includes mounting hardware, installation labor, and delivery to Maine DOT Fleet Services in Augusta, Maine.

Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value, considering quality, conformity to specifications, delivery date, and overall economy. The Division reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10%. In tie situations, preference applies to in-state bidders or those offering Maine-manufactured products. Electronic submission is required by 2:00 p.m. local time on December 19, 2011; supporting documents may be faxed or mailed prior to bid opening.
