About this opportunity

The City of Cohoes Department of Public Works is seeking bids for the 112th Street Bridge (Route 470) Street Light Replacement Project, which encompasses the removal and replacement of 26 existing lighting units across Albany County and Albany City. The project requires contractors to remove current lighting fixtures and install new MagniFlood Washington Poles featuring cast aluminum bases and extruded aluminum shafts, specifically WAL-8-GBLK models with black finishes. Deliverables include complete replacement of lighting units, installation of ParkLite LED decorative post light lanterns with holiday lighting change capabilities, and comprehensive electrical system upgrades, including third-party electrical inspections and potential wiring replacements. The bid is scheduled for submission on September 19, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Cohoes City Hall, with bid opening at 10:00 AM the same day. Potential bidders may schedule a walk-through with the Department of Public Works Commissioner prior to the bid date, and must provide detailed documentation demonstrating compliance with project specifications.

The procurement appears open to various business types, including individuals, partnerships, and corporations, with mandatory compliance requirements such as non-collusion affidavits and Iran Divestment Act certification. Contractors must carry substantial insurance coverage, including $1,000,000 per occurrence in General Liability, Statutory Workman's Compensation, New York State Disability Benefits, Automotive Liability, and an Umbrella Liability Insurance of $4,000,000. The City of Cohoes emphasizes equal opportunity employment and non-discrimination in contractor selection. MagniFlood Inc. is identified as the sole source manufacturer for the specified LED fixtures and poles, which are designed and manufactured in New York. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the comprehensive insurance and technical requirements suggest a significant infrastructure investment. The project is scheduled for implementation between December 14, 2024, and April 14, 2025, covering approximately four months of construction and installation work.
