About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids on automotive bearings to supply the Maine Department of Transportation Motor Transport Division and all state agencies under a one-year contract, with bids due January 30, 2009. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder considering best value, with tie bids resolved in favor of in-state bidders or those offering Maine-manufactured commodities.
The scope covers over 150 bearing part numbers across multiple manufacturers and bearing types — tapered, ball, pillow, and flange bearings used in wheel assemblies, transmission components, and specialized equipment for trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery. Annual usage quantities range from 2 to 70 units per part number. All bearings must be first-grade material of domestic origin, equal to or superior to original manufacturer specifications. Bidders must submit current manufacturer price lists and catalogs with their bids and indicate willingness to extend pricing to Maine political subdivisions and school districts. Vendors must demonstrate full-time field service personnel and supply fresh stock only with credits available for obsolete stock. Delivery is required within seven days of order receipt to approximately 100 DOT facilities throughout Maine, prepaid F.O.B. destination with all transportation charges included.
The estimated annual contract value is $10,000, though actual purchases may be more or less. Prices must remain firm for the entire one-year contract period with no fuel surcharges permitted. The State retains the right to extend the contract beyond the one-year expiration date with mutual contractor consent and may increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent. The State accepts Procurement Card payment at quoted prices with no surcharges. Bids with cash discount terms of less than 25 net days will not be considered unless in the State's interest. The State is exempt from Federal and Maine State sales and use taxes; bidders must exclude these from their quotes.
