About this opportunity
The Bureau of Reclamation is offering the WaterSMART Cooperative Watershed Management Program (CWMP) Phase I grant for fiscal year 2025. Through this program, the agency is seeking applications from states, Indian Tribes, local governments, and non-profit organizations to form new or support existing watershed groups. The funded activities will focus on watershed development, restoration planning, and project design to promote water reliability, reduce conflict, and stretch limited water supplies. Eligible applicants must be located in specified Western states and territories, and they will be evaluated on their ability to encourage diverse stakeholder collaboration. The application deadlines are May 20, 2025 and September 30, 2025, with anticipated award dates of March 31, 2026 and July 31, 2026 respectively.
The CWMP Phase I grant provides up to $300,000 per applicant over three years, with a maximum of $100,000 per year. Approximately 25-30 awards will be made per application period. The program does not require cost-share from applicants, and the funded activities can take place anywhere in the eligible Western states and territories, including Montana, Colorado, Arizona, California, and Wyoming.
