About this opportunity

This grant opportunity from the Department of Agriculture Rural Housing Service seeks applicants to assist in starting or expanding value-added agricultural activities through planning and working capital grants. Eligible applicants include independent producers, agricultural producer groups, farmer and rancher cooperatives, and majority-controlled producer-based businesses proposing projects directly related to processing and marketing value-added agricultural products. Applications will be evaluated competitively based on economic viability and sustainability criteria, with planning grants limited to $75,000 and due by April 11, 2024 and working capital grants up to $250,000.

Planning grants can fund up to $75,000 for feasibility studies, business plans, and marketing plans. Working capital grants of up to $250,000 are available for up to 36 months to support the costs of processing and marketing value-added agricultural products. Project locations may include independent agricultural producers, farms, ranches and facilities involved in processing, packaging and marketing value-added agricultural products throughout the United States.
