About this opportunity
The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living (ACL) is seeking Tribal Organizations to apply for the Tribal Adult Protective Services Demonstration cooperative agreement. The primary objective is to enhance and improve adult protective services within tribal communities by helping tribes identify needs related to abuse, neglect, and exploitation prevention and response. Eligible applicants are limited to current Older Americans Act Title VI Grantees, who must collaborate with at least one ACL national resource center or aging network organization. The grant aims to facilitate the development of multidisciplinary elder justice activities to prevent, respond to, and address abuse in tribal communities. Evaluation will likely focus on the applicant's proposed strategies for identifying service gaps, implementing prevention activities, and developing comprehensive elder abuse intervention approaches. The letter of intent is due by June 30, 2025, with the full application deadline set for July 30, 2025.
The grant will award five cooperative agreements, each ranging from $150,000 to $200,000, with a two-year grant period. Funding is authorized under the Elder Justice Act and Title VII of the Older Americans Act, with the primary CFDA number 93.747. The grant program is specifically designed to support Elder Abuse Prevention Interventions, focusing on developing and evaluating promising practices to protect vulnerable older adults. Recipients will be expected to demonstrate innovative approaches to elder abuse prevention and intervention that can potentially be replicated in other tribal communities. The place of performance will be within the selected tribal organizations' jurisdictions, with an expectation of comprehensive community-based implementation.
