About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Materiel Command is seeking proposals from accredited U.S. institutions of higher education for the Fiscal Year 2025 Defense University Research Instrumentation Program federal grant opportunity. Up to $53 million will be awarded to fund major research equipment or instrumentation costing between $50,000 and $3 million to enhance DoD-funded research, establish new research capabilities relevant to DoD interests, or increase research-related education. Proposals are due February 16, 2024 and will be evaluated based on the impact of the proposed equipment on DoD-funded research, the importance of that research to DoD missions, and the potential to enhance research-related education.

Individual award amounts will range from $50,000 to $3 million for a one-year period of performance to acquire the requested equipment or instrumentation. Funding will support research areas of interest to the DoD under the Basic Scientific Research grant program administered by the Department of the Army. Subject to availability of funds, awards are expected to be issued by December 1, 2024 for work to be performed at accredited U.S. institutions of higher education.
