About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking applications for a capacity-building assistance (CBA) program to strengthen the nation's public health infrastructure and performance. The program aims to increase knowledge, skills, and ability to deliver essential public health services, improve organizational and systems capacity, and address prioritized, equity-based public health priorities. Eligible applicants include governmental, non-governmental, tribal, higher education, and non-profit organizations that can demonstrate expertise and national reach to provide CBA in one of three population focus areas: governmental public health departments, public health department workforces, or other public health system components. Applications will be evaluated on the organization's capability, resources, and track record to implement technical assistance, training, and other CBA activities. The application deadline is April 1, 2024, with award announcements expected in August 2024.
Up to 45 awards totaling $62 million over 5 years will be made under this cooperative agreement program (CFDA #93.421). Subject to appropriations, selected recipients may also receive additional supplemental funding through a second funding strategy in subsequent years to further strengthen the nation's public health performance and infrastructure.
