Forecast synopsis
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention seeks to establish and expand partnerships with academic, healthcare, and other innovation partners to strengthen infection prevention and control in public health and healthcare settings; this includes improving the understanding of failure modes, enhancing infection control protocols, and strengthening healthcare worker competencies. This cooperative agreement will support activities to assess and remove barriers to success, improve communication of instructions and intent to healthcare workers, and understand how to optimize the layout and functional flow of healthcare environments and processes. This cooperative agreement will also support activities that focus on the design, delivery, and effectiveness of infection prevention and control training for healthcare and public health personnel. The work conducted through this cooperative agreement directly supports public health and healthcare practice by informing development of guidance and recommendations; translating those guidance and recommendations into practices that are implementable in a healthcare setting; and improving how healthcare personal competencies are assessed and how training is used to strengthen those competencies. Through these partnerships, DHQP can provide real-world implementation solutions for CDC's evidence-based guidance, both during normal operations and during public health emergencies.
