About this opportunity

The Department of State's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs (WHA) is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement to strengthen the capacity of Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) in Central America. The goal is to accredit and make SBDCs more sustainable so they can better serve local small businesses, including helping them enter larger markets. This will enhance economic resilience and promote regional stability in the region. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and SBDCs based in the U.S. and Central America. Proposals will be evaluated on technical merit, cost-effectiveness, and the applicant's capability to achieve the program's objectives.

The funding opportunity has a total budget of up to $1,677,050 and the anticipated project period is 24 to 36 months beginning August 19, 2024. Activities must take place in the target countries of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama under the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs Grant Programs (CFDA 19.750).

Synopsis

The WHA/PPC of the DoS announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to support SBDCs to be accredited, sustainable, and better able to build the capacity of local small businesses, including to enter larger markets.
