About this opportunity

The purpose of the Strategic Prevention Framework - Partnerships for Success for States (SPF-PFS) grant program is to help reduce the onset and progression of substance misuse and related problems by supporting the development and delivery of state and community substance misuse prevention and mental health promotion services. The Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is seeking applicants to build and expand the capacity of local community prevention providers to implement evidence-based programs. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) will remain open for three fiscal years, with applications due by June 5th of 2023, 2024, and 2025. Applicants that are not funded in one year are eligible to apply again in subsequent years.

The SPF-PFS program is funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance grant program (CFDA 93.243), which provides a wide range of substance abuse treatment, prevention, and mental health initiatives across the United States. Recent grant awards under this program have ranged from $120,000 to over $6 million, typically spanning 3-5 year project periods, and can support the implementation of evidence-based interventions, workforce development, and efforts to enhance service delivery systems. The place of performance is typically dispersed across states or regions to address local needs while developing best practices with national significance.
