About this opportunity
The Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) is a grant program managed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service. It provides funding to qualified private, nonprofit and public (including tribal) intermediary organizations to deliver financial and technical assistance programs that support housing, community facilities, or community and economic development projects in rural areas. The intermediaries must provide matching funds and work with recipients to build their capacity and implement local projects. The grant opportunity has a due date of July 10, 2024 and applicant types include state/local governments, for-profit and nonprofit organizations, schools, housing authorities, and tribal entities.
The grant amounts typically range from $50,000 to $500,000 per intermediary, though the maximum award size has fluctuated between $250,000 and $500,000 in recent years. The program has awarded numerous grants nationwide to a wide variety of entities over the past several years to support rural community development initiatives.
Synopsis
Technical Assistance & Training Grant
Qualified private, nonprofit and public (including tribal) intermediary organizations proposing to carry out financial and technical assistance programs will be eligible to receive the funding. The RCDI structure requires the intermediary (grantee) to provide a program of financial and technical assistance to recipients to develop their capacity and ability to undertake projects related to housing, community facilities, or community and economic development. The recipients will, in turn, provide programs that will support their communities (beneficiaries). The Intermediary will be required to provide matching funds in an amount at least equal to the RCDI grant. The respective minimum and maximum grant amounts per Intermediary are $50,000 and $500,000.
