About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health, through the NIH Common Fund in partnership with other NIH Institutes and Centers, plans to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity for the RNomics Outreach and Coordination (ROC) Center cooperative agreement; applications are not being solicited at this time, and this forecast is provided to enable potential applicants to develop collaborations and projects.
The ROC Center will operate as the RNomics consortium's central hub for data management, coordination, and community engagement. Core responsibilities include developing a central RNomics data portal, supporting data standards development and use, coordinating technology validation and benchmarking, leading consortium-wide data analysis, and providing outreach and training for RNomics resources. The center will also plan for long-term availability and maintenance of RNomics data assets.
Eligible applicants include small businesses, for-profit organizations, public and private higher education institutions, state and local governments, county and city/township governments, tribal governments (both federally recognized and not federally recognized), tribal organizations, public or Indian housing authorities, independent school districts, 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, special district governments, faith-based and community-based organizations, regional organizations, U.S. territories or possessions, eligible federal agencies, and non-domestic entities.
The RNomics program encompasses four initiatives: technology enhancement centers, transformative technologies, molecular standards, and the coordinating center. The program seeks to develop tools for studying the full set of RNA molecules in cells and tissues, supporting technologies and resources that enable integrated analysis of RNA sequences, modifications, structures, locations, interactions, and functions to advance understanding of health and disease.
This opportunity is assigned to Trans-NIH Research Support (CFDA 93.310).
Forecast synopsis

The program will support technologies and resources that enable integrated analysis of RNA sequences, modifications, structures, locations, interactions, and functions to advance understanding of health and disease. RNomics includes four initiatives: technology enhancement centers, transformative technologies, molecular standards, and a coordinating center. Applications are not being solicited at this time. This notice is being provided to give potential applicants time to develop meaningful collaborations and strong projects.
This NOFO will establish the RNomics Outreach and Coordination (ROC) Center. The ROC Center will serve as the consortium's hub for data management, coordination, and community engagement. It will develop a central RNomics data portal, support the development and use of data standards, coordinate technology validation and benchmarking, lead consortium-wide data analysis, and support outreach, training, and sharing of RNomics resources.
