About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting cooperative agreement applications for injury prevention and control research and state and community-based programs under CFDA 93.136, with applications due September 30, 2030. Eligible applicants are restricted to state governments or their bona fide agents, U.S. territorial governments or their bona fide agents, political subdivisions of states (counties, cities, townships, special districts), state-controlled institutions of higher education, and federally or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments; only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded. Recipients must demonstrate access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Awards provide financial assistance for an initial 12-month budget period with a performance period of up to five years, subject to fund availability and satisfactory recipient progress. Historically, award amounts range from $100,000 to $700,000 annually. Non-competitive continuation is possible for up to five years based on satisfactory progress and federal government interest.
The evaluation process consists of two phases. Phase I screening assesses eligibility and completeness; Phase II panel review evaluates approach, evaluation and performance measurement capabilities, and organizational capacity to implement proposed strategies. Applicants will be notified within thirty days after Phase II review if their application does not meet eligibility or submission requirements.
The program funds injury and violence prevention research on priority issues including interpersonal violence, suicide, adverse childhood experiences, child abuse and neglect, youth violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, overdose prevention, and firearm-related injuries, as well as development, implementation, and promotion of evidence-based injury and violence prevention practices at the state and community level.
