About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting applications for injury prevention and violence control research and state and community-based programs under Cooperative Agreement RFA-SH-18-000, with an application due date of September 30, 2030. Eligibility is restricted to state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, state-controlled institutions of higher education, and federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments; only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded, and recipients must have access to state or territory-wide data sources.
The program funds research on priority injury and violence prevention topics including interpersonal violence, suicide, adverse childhood experiences, child abuse and neglect, youth violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, overdose prevention, and firearm-related injuries, as well as state and community-based programs that develop, implement, and promote evidence-based injury and violence prevention practices. The cooperative agreement period of performance extends 1 to 5 years, with initial funding for a 12-month budget period; non-competitive renewal is available subject to satisfactory progress and fund availability.
Awards range from $150,000 to $7.5 million, with typical cooperative agreements between $350,000 and $1.4 million. Non-research applications undergo Phase I eligibility and responsiveness review, followed by Phase II evaluation on approach, evaluation and performance measurement, and organizational capacity. Research applications are reviewed on scientific and technical merit, including degree of satisfaction of essential requirements, clarity of purpose and personnel qualifications, feasibility and likelihood of meaningful results, alignment with national health priorities, and budget reasonableness. The program operates under CFDA 93.136.
