About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention seeks Type 6 cooperative agreement applications for injury prevention and control research and state and community-based programs under CFDA 93.136, with a September 30, 2030 application deadline. Only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded, and applicants must demonstrate access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Eligible applicants are state governments or their bona fide agents, territorial governments, political subdivisions of states including counties and cities, state-controlled institutions of higher education, and federally or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments. Bona fide agents must provide legal documentation of their status.
Awards fund a 12-month initial budget period with performance periods up to five years, contingent on fund availability and satisfactory recipient progress. Typical cooperative agreement awards range from $350,000 to $1.4 million annually. Non-competitive continuation awards are available based on satisfactory progress as documented in required reports.
The program funds injury and violence prevention activities including child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, overdose prevention, and evidence-based injury prevention practices. Evaluation priorities include approach, evaluation and performance measurement capabilities, and organizational capacity to implement proposed strategies.
Applications undergo two-phase review. Phase I assesses eligibility and completeness; Phase II evaluates complete, eligible applications on approach, evaluation capabilities, and organizational capacity. A review panel will notify applicants within thirty days of Phase II completion if applications fail to meet eligibility or submission requirements.
Recipients must retain records for three years beyond final audit completion and comply with HHS Grants Policy Statement property retention requirements. The program is authorized under sections 392(a)(1) of the Public Health Service Act.
