About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting applications for injury and violence prevention cooperative agreements under RFA-OT-18-000, with an application due date of September 30, 2030. Eligible applicants are restricted to U.S. state governments, territorial governments, local governments, and their bona fide agents; only one application will be funded per eligible state or territory, and funded recipients must have access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Awards typically range from $100,000 to $700,000 annually for 12-month budget periods, with a performance period of up to five years subject to fund availability and satisfactory recipient progress. Non-competitive renewal is available after initial awards contingent on documented satisfactory progress and federal determination that continued funding serves the government's interests.
The program funds injury and violence prevention initiatives including child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, and overdose prevention. Recipients must develop evidence-based prevention techniques, collaborate with national organizations and key stakeholders, comply with federal 3-year record retention requirements, and maintain comprehensive evaluation and performance measurement capabilities.
Applications undergo two-phase review. Phase I screens for eligibility and completeness; Phase II evaluates approach, evaluation and performance measurement capabilities, and organizational capacity to implement. Applicants are notified within 30 days of Phase II completion if their application does not meet eligibility or submission requirements.
The opportunity falls under CFDA 93.136, Injury Prevention and Control Research and State and Community Based Programs. This is a cooperative agreement, not a grant, meaning CDC retains substantive involvement in project performance.
