About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting cooperative agreement applications for injury prevention and control research and state and community-based programs under CFDA 93.136, with applications due September 30, 2030. Only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded, and applicants must demonstrate access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Eligible applicants include U.S. state governments, territorial governments, political subdivisions (counties, cities, townships, special districts), universities, small businesses, and non-profit organizations, or their bona fide agents—applicants claiming bona fide agent status must provide legal binding documentation from the sponsoring government entity. Applicants must be state-controlled institutions of higher education or federally or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments.
Awards provide financial assistance for 12-month budget periods with periods of performance up to five years, contingent on fund availability and satisfactory recipient progress. Typical cooperative agreement awards range from $350,000 to $1.4 million annually, with individual award values typically between $100,000 and $700,000 annually.
The program supports development, implementation, and promotion of evidence-based injury and violence prevention practices across child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, overdose prevention, and related domains. Applications undergo two-phase review: Phase 1 screens for eligibility and completeness; Phase 2 evaluates approach, evaluation and performance measurement capabilities, and organizational capacity to implement the proposed strategy.
Recipients must comply with a mandatory three-year record retention requirement and are subject to inspections and audits by the Department of Health and Human Services. Non-competitive renewal is available contingent on satisfactory progress and federal interest.
