About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting applications for cooperative agreements to develop, implement, and promote effective injury and violence prevention practices, with an application due date of September 30, 2030. Only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded, and applicants must have access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Eligible applicants include U.S. state governments or their bona fide agents, territorial governments or their bona fide agents, political subdivisions of states including counties, cities, townships, and special districts or their bona fide agents, state-controlled institutions of higher education, and federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments. If applying as a bona fide agent, a legal binding agreement from the sponsoring government entity is required.
Annual award amounts range from $100,000 to $700,000, with typical cooperative agreements in the $350,000 to $1.4 million range. The cooperative agreement period of performance runs 1 to 5 years, with financial assistance provided as 12-month budget periods. After initial awards, projects may be continued non-competitively contingent upon satisfactory progress and HHS determination that continued funding is in the federal government's best interest.
The RFA targets child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, and overdose prevention. Applicants must demonstrate organizational capacity to implement proposed strategies and maintain evaluation and performance measurement capabilities. The application undergoes two-phase review: Phase I screens for eligibility and completeness, followed by Phase II panel review evaluating scientific merit, personnel qualifications, feasibility of producing meaningful results, alignment with national health priorities, and budget reasonableness.
The Assistance Listing is 93.136, Injury Prevention and Control Research and State and Community Based Programs.
