About this opportunity

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting applications for cooperative agreements to develop, implement, and promote injury and violence prevention and control practices, with an application due date of September 30, 2030. Only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded, and applicants must have access to state or territory-wide data sources.

Eligible applicants are U.S. state governments or their bona fide agents, U.S. territorial governments or their bona fide agents, political subdivisions of states (counties, cities, townships, and special districts) or their bona fide agents, state-controlled institutions of higher education, and federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments. Applicants applying as bona fide agents must provide legal binding documentation of that status from the government entity.

There is no mandatory cost share. Financial assistance provides a 12-month initial budget period with a period of performance of up to five years, subject to fund availability and satisfactory progress. Typical award amounts range from $100,000 to $700,000 annually. Awards are subject to non-competitive continuation for subsequent budget periods contingent upon satisfactory progress and federal government interest.

Applications undergo a two-phase review process. Phase I evaluates eligibility and completeness; Phase II assesses approach, evaluation and performance measurement, and organizational capacity to implement the proposed strategy. Applicants will be notified within 30 days if their application does not meet eligibility or submission requirements.

This opportunity is funded under CFDA 93.136, Injury Prevention and Control Research and State and Community Based Programs. Recipients must maintain records for three years beyond the award period, subject to audit by DHHS and other federal officials.
