About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting applications for cooperative agreements under the Injury Prevention and Control Research and State and Community Based Programs (CFDA 93.136), with an application due date of September 30, 2030. Eligible applicants are limited to U.S. state governments, territorial governments, local governments, and their bona fide agents; only one application will be funded per eligible state or territory. Recipients must have access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Award amounts for non-research state and community-based cooperative agreements typically range from $350,000 to $1.4 million annually, with a 12-month initial budget period and a performance period of up to five years contingent on fund availability and satisfactory progress. The program funds development, implementation, and promotion of evidence-based injury and violence prevention practices across domains including child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, and overdose prevention.
Applications undergo a two-phase review. Phase 1 assesses eligibility and completeness; Phase 2 evaluates approach, evaluation and performance measurement, and the applicant's organizational capacity to implement the proposed strategy. For non-research applications, evaluation criteria emphasize alignment with national health priorities, personnel qualifications, feasibility of producing meaningful results, and budget reasonableness.
Recipients are subject to federal inspections and audits and must retain records for a minimum of three years (or longer if final audit or findings resolution remains incomplete). Non-competitive renewal is available after initial awards, subject to satisfactory recipient progress and federal determination that continued funding remains in the government's interest.
