About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting applications for cooperative agreements to develop, implement, and promote evidence-based injury and violence prevention and control practices, with an application deadline of September 30, 2030. Funding is restricted to one application per eligible state or territory, and recipients must demonstrate access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Eligible applicants are U.S. state governments or their bona fide agents, U.S. territorial governments or their bona fide agents, and political subdivisions of states including counties, cities, townships, and special districts or their bona fide agents. Applicants must be state-controlled institutions of higher education, American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments (federally recognized or state-recognized), or state and local health departments and community-based organizations. Bona fide agent status requires a legal binding agreement from the sponsoring government entity.
Awards provide a 12-month initial budget period with a period of performance of up to five years, contingent on satisfactory progress and fund availability. Award amounts typically range from $100,000 to $700,000 annually. Proposed strategies must address priority areas including child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, and overdose prevention.
Applications undergo a two-phase review. Phase 1 evaluates eligibility and completeness; Phase 2 assesses approach, evaluation and performance measurement, and organizational capacity to implement the proposed strategy. Recipients must comply with a 3-year record retention requirement and are subject to inspection and audits by the Department of Health and Human Services.
The program is authorized under CFDA 93.136 (Injury Prevention and Control Research and State and Community Based Programs).
