About this opportunity

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting cooperative agreement applications under CFDA 93.136 (Injury Prevention and Control Research and State and Community Based Programs) for development, implementation, and promotion of evidence-based injury and violence prevention practices, with applications due September 30, 2030. Only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded, and applicants must have access to state or territory-wide data sources.

Eligible applicants are U.S. state governments or their bona fide agents, territorial governments or their bona fide agents, local governments or their bona fide agents, state-controlled institutions of higher education, and federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments. If applying as a bona fide agent, a legal binding agreement from the state, territory, or local government documenting that status is required.

No cost share is specified. Awards typically range from $350,000 to $1.4 million. Financial assistance provides funds for a 12-month initial budget period with a period of performance of up to five years, contingent on availability of funds and satisfactory recipient progress. Non-competitive continuation awards are available after initial funding, subject to satisfactory progress documentation and federal government determination.

Place of performance is statewide or territory-wide. Eligible activities include child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, and overdose prevention.

Review occurs in two phases. Phase I review by the CDC Office of Grants Services verifies eligibility and completeness; non-responsive applications do not advance. Phase II panel evaluation assesses approach, evaluation and performance measurement, and organizational capacity to implement. Applicants are notified within thirty days if their application does not meet eligibility or submission requirements.

Recipients must comply with federal audit and record-retention requirements per 2 CFR 200, including a three-year record retention requirement.
