About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting cooperative agreement applications to develop, implement, and promote evidence-based injury and violence prevention practices, with a submission deadline of September 30, 2030. Only one application per eligible state or territory will be funded, and recipients must demonstrate access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Eligible applicants are state governments or their bona fide agents; territorial governments or their bona fide agents in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau; political subdivisions of states including counties, cities, townships, and special districts or their bona fide agents; state-controlled institutions of higher education; and federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments. Applicants applying as a bona fide agent must provide legal binding documentation from the state, territory, or local government.
Award amounts typically range from $100,000 to $700,000 annually. The initial budget period is 12 months, with a potential period of performance up to five years contingent upon fund availability and satisfactory progress. The program funds development and implementation of evidence-based practices addressing child abuse prevention, sexual violence reduction, firearm-related violence prevention, and overdose mitigation strategies.
The two-phase review process begins with an eligibility and completeness check by the CDC Office of Grants Services. Phase II evaluation by a professional review panel assesses three criteria: approach, evaluation and performance measurement, and the applicant's organizational capacity to implement the proposed approach.
The program operates under CFDA 93.136, Injury Prevention and Control Research and State and Community Based Programs. Non-competitive renewal is available contingent upon satisfactory progress and federal government interest in continuation.
