About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), in partnership with the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), is seeking public input on the potential establishment of a Carbon Transport Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) Consortium. This consortium would identify and coordinate initiatives for carbon transport RD&D efforts, facilitate communication among stakeholders, and compile information in an open-access platform. The RFI outlines the proposed structure and membership requirements for the consortium, which would consist of three standing committees. Interested parties must provide specific information, such as name, position, entity type, and email address, when expressing interest in joining the consortium. This RFI is not a funding opportunity, and DOE will not reimburse costs for responding. DOE may or may not issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement based on the input received.
The Fossil Energy Research and Development program, under CFDA 81.089, funds a wide range of research, development, demonstration, and deployment projects aimed at minimizing the environmental impacts of fossil fuels while working towards net-zero emissions. Recent Federal Grant Awards have ranged from approximately $250,000 to over $100 million, with project periods typically between 1-5 years. Projects are expected to be performed at locations across the United States, including disadvantaged communities, research laboratories, and industrial sites.
