About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health is forecasting a grant opportunity to fund the R3PEATS Rigor Scholar Cohort Awards (K12), which supports early-career researchers advancing expertise in rigorous scientific practices including preregistration, blinding, randomization, and transparent dissemination through multi-institutional collaboration; no application deadline is provided.

Eligible applicants encompass domestic entities—city and township governments, higher education institutions (public and private), nonprofits (501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3)), independent school districts, state and county governments, special district governments, tribal organizations and governments, housing authorities, small businesses, and for-profit organizations—as well as Indian and Native American tribal governments not federally recognized, eligible federal agencies, U.S. territories or possessions, faith-based and community-based organizations, regional organizations, and non-domestic entities including foreign institutions.

Scholars work within local and national cohorts to co-develop procedures and share lessons in good scientific practice. This initiative operates under the NIH Common Fund's Rigor, Replicability, & Reproducibility to Promote Excellence, Accuracy, & Translation in Science (R3PEATS) program.

The opportunity is assigned to Trans-NIH Research Support (CFDA 93.310), a portfolio program administered by the NIH Office of the Director. Scientific merit review encompasses significance, approach, innovation, investigator competency, resource adequacy, budget justification, and where applicable, protective measures for human subjects, animals, or the environment. Awards are subject to OMB 2 CFR 200 audit requirements and NIH Grants Policy Statement compliance. Grantees must retain financial, programmatic, and statistical records for three years from annual FSR submission.
