About this opportunity

The Small Business Administration is soliciting applications for the Program for Investment in Microentrepreneurs (PRIME) FY 2026 with an application due date of August 12, 2026. The SBA expects to award approximately $10.8 million across roughly 27 grants. A 50 percent non-federal match is required, though the SBA may waive this requirement for organizations with severe funding constraints.

Eligible applicants include private nonprofit microenterprise development organizations, state and local government microenterprise programs, Indian tribes, tribal governments, and 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits with demonstrated experience serving disadvantaged entrepreneurs or microenterprise development organizations (MDOs).

The program operates on two tracks: Track I (Training and Technical Assistance for Disadvantaged Entrepreneurs) awards range from $75,000 to $300,000 with a minimum of 75 percent of total funding allocated to this track; Track II (Training and Capacity Building Services to Microenterprise Development Organizations) awards range from $75,000 to $400,000 with a minimum of 15 percent and maximum of 25 percent of funding allocated. The remaining funds may support research and development or discretionary grants at SBA discretion.

The project period is 12 months, running October 1, 2026, through September 29, 2027. Applicants must submit a maximum 15-page technical proposal addressing organizational experience, project design, client targeting, marketing strategies, partnerships, implementation timelines, and personnel qualifications. Applications are evaluated on organizational capacity and experience (30–35 points depending on track), project design (30–35 points), project management (30 points), and collaboration and leveraging of resources (10 points for Track I only), with up to 10 bonus points available for projects serving disadvantaged entrepreneurs in rural areas. The minimum acceptable score is 70 points out of 115.

The funding opportunity number is SB-OCAPR-26-001 under Assistance Listing 59.050.
