About this opportunity
The Small Business Administration seeks applications for the Program for Investment in Microentrepreneurs (PRIME) FY 2026 grants supporting technical assistance and training to disadvantaged microentrepreneurs, with applications due August 6, 2026. A 50% non-federal cost match is required, though waivers may be granted.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, tribal governments, non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, higher education institutions, community development financial institutions, and programs operated by state and local governments. The program operates two tracks: Track I provides direct technical assistance to disadvantaged entrepreneurs for starting, expanding, and growing microenterprises, while Track II funds capacity-building services to microenterprise development organizations themselves.
Awards range from $75,000 to $400,000 per grant, with approximately $7 million in total funding availability across approximately 20 awards. The period of performance is one year beginning September 30, 2026, with four optional twelve-month renewals at the government's discretion.
Grant recipients must collect and maintain data on technical assistance recipients for inclusion in annual performance reports and provide audited financial statements annually. Selection criteria are past performance, approach, personnel, and cost. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions within 60 to 90 days of the application deadline.
All applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov. Applicants must complete three sequential registration steps before applying: obtaining a UEI number, registering with the System of Award Management with a notarized Entity Administrator letter, and registering with Grants.gov to designate Authorized Organization Representatives. Ten required attachments must be submitted, including SF-424, SF-424A, SF-424B, budget detail worksheets with narrative justification, and certification of matching funds.
The assistance listing is 59.050.
