About this opportunity

The National Institute of Corrections within the Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons seeks applications to prepare and deliver two established curriculum packages, The Learning Designer and The Learning and Performance Coach. Nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations, and institutions of higher education are eligible to apply. Applicants must plan, facilitate, and collaboratively manage all phases for two deliveries each of the two curriculum packages, including securing facilitators and coordinating logistics. Applications are due by February 6, 2024 and will be evaluated based on the applicant's experience, qualifications, and approach.

NIC expects to make one award of up to $100,000 for a 12-month period beginning in March 2024 to support preparation and delivery of the courses. The work will be performed under the federal grant program Corrections Training and Staff Development. Places of performance will be determined by the applicant and locations of the planned hybrid and virtual course deliveries.

Synopsis

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is the only federal agency with a legislative mandate (Public Law 93-415) to provide specialized services to corrections from a national perspective. NIC provides direct service as the primary means of carrying out its mission and responds directly to needs identified by practitioners working in state and local adult corrections, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Department of Justice, other federal agencies, and the United States Congress. As a center of learning innovation that shapes and advances effective correctional practice and public policy, NIC is a vital partner in planning, developing, delivering, and supporting learning and performance training related to capacity building for the field of corrections. NIC believes it takes skilled learning professionals to improve correctional practices and outcomes. Current research into practice shows that learning and performance is a process that requires dedicated effort through continuous learning and professional improvement. Effective learning and performance programs align with agency operational and strategic needs both with the agency delivering the programs, as well as with the external agencies receiving the learning and performance training. As a result, NIC is seeking to partner for the preparation and delivery of two NIC courses: The Learning Designer (two virtual deliveries) and The Learning and Performance Coach (two hybrid deliveries).
