About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is issuing this Notice of Funding Opportunity to provide administrative funding adjustments to invited applicants only, enabling them to continue previously awarded grant work addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The funding is designed to support coordinated community responses that provide services to victims and hold offenders accountable across five primary program areas: Violence Against Women Discretionary Grants for Indian Tribal Governments, Legal Assistance for Victims, Culturally and Linguistically Specific Services, Transitional Housing Assistance, and Rural Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Assistance. Applicants must follow guidelines from the original Notice of Funding Opportunity under which their prior award was made and must apply through the online Grants.gov portal and the Department of Justice's JustGrants System. Award amounts and performance periods will be adjusted to account for previously expended funds and the time necessary to complete the work. The application deadline for this invitation is March 5, 2026, with only invited applicants eligible to apply.

Award values vary by program, ranging from approximately $350,000 to $1,300,000 depending on the specific program and project scope, with typical project periods spanning 24 to 36 months. Financial records and supporting documentation must be retained for three years from the date of final expenditure report submission, or longer if litigation, claims, or audits are pending. Services will be provided across multiple locations nationwide, with applicants representing tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, state and local government entities, and other community-based organizations that have documented histories of effective work in addressing violence against women and related crimes.

Synopsis

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is issuing this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to fund the invited applicant(s) only to continue specific prior grant award work through what is known as an "Administrative Funding Adjustment" or AFA. Created in 1995, OVW administers grant programs authorized by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and subsequent legislation and provides national leadership on issues of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. OVW grants support coordinated community responses that provide services to victims and hold offenders accountable. The invited applicant(s) received this invitation to apply because there is documented reason why they should assume responsibility for carrying out a previously issued award. The invited applicant(s) must follow guidelines detailed in the original NOFO under which OVW made the prior award, unless otherwise stated in this AFA invitation to apply. The scope and purposes of the new awards will be the same as the previous ones. Award amounts and performance periods will be adjusted to account for funds already spent and the amount of time necessary to complete the work.
