About this opportunity
The Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is seeking applicants for the OVW Fiscal Year 2024 Specialized Training and Technical Assistance for Sexual Assault Victim Response grant program. The primary objectives of this cooperative agreement are to provide direct training and technical assistance to current and potential OVW recipients and subrecipients to enhance their efforts in supporting sexual assault survivors. This includes providing scholarships for victim advocate attendance at the National Sexual Assault Conference and offering training and technical assistance on addressing sexual assault to victim service providers, law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and medical professionals. Applications will be evaluated on the applicant's experience, expertise, and proposed approach to achieving the program's goals.
The funding opportunity has a due date of April 11, 2024. While the award value or budget range is not specified, the program is part of the OVW Technical Assistance Initiative (CFDA 16.526), which aims to provide communities with critical resources to respond effectively to violent crimes against women. The place of performance for the training and technical assistance services is not explicitly stated but is likely to be nationwide.
Synopsis
The primary purpose of the OVW Training and Technical Assistance Initiative (TA Initiative) (CFDA 16.526) is to provide direct training and technical assistance to current and potential OVW recipients and subrecipients to enhance their efforts to successfully implement projects supported by OVW grant funds. Sexual violence impacts hundreds of thousands of women, men, and children each year. Survivors deserve trauma-informed support and responses from community-based victim services providers, law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, medical staff, and other professionals. OVW believes it is imperative to provide frequent and sufficient training, resources, and technical assistance to those working with sexual assault survivors. As part of that effort, OVW identified the following two initiatives to support and advance training and technical assistance: 1) To provide scholarships that support victim advocate attendance at the National Sexual Assault Conference (NSAC). 2) To provide training and technical assistance and support on addressing sexual assault to victim service providers law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and medical and other professionals.
