About this opportunity
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), operating under the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs, is seeking applicants to provide comprehensive reentry services for moderate- to high-risk youth before, during, and after release from confinement, as well as transitional support services to facilitate successful community reintegration. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, city/township governments, tribal governments, county governments, and state governments. Successful applicants must partner with federal corrections and supervision agencies, service providers, and community-based organizations to deliver evidence-based programming addressing criminogenic needs and risk factors. The evaluation process will assess proposals based on eligibility and responsiveness, merit, programmatic feasibility, budget appropriateness, and organizational risk factors, with final award decisions made by the Assistant Attorney General. The application deadline is March 30, 2026.
Individual project grants under the Second Chance Act Reentry Initiative typically range from $500,000 to $1,000,000 over three-year periods, though some cooperative agreements have reached $4,000,000 over five-year periods. The performance period for awards generally spans 36-48 months, contingent upon program goals and objectives. Services will be delivered across multiple locations including correctional facilities, detention centers, community-based service providers, and local jurisdictions, with successful applicants expected to maintain records for three years from the final expenditure report submission and comply with all applicable federal audit and administrative requirements.
Synopsis
This NOFO will provide funding to support states, units of local government, and federally recognized Native American Tribal governments in partnership with interested persons (including federal corrections and supervision agencies), service providers, and community-based organizations to provide (1) comprehensive reentry services for moderate- to high-risk youth before, during, and after release from confinement, and (2) support transitional services to assist youth to successfully reenter the community.
