About this opportunity

The Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) is offering a competitive grant opportunity through the Expanding Opportunity Through Quality Charter Schools Program's State Charter School Facilities Incentive Grant (SFIG) Program. The purpose of this grant is to help eligible states establish or enhance a per-pupil facilities aid program for charter schools, as specified in state law. Applicants will be evaluated based on criteria such as the need for facility funding, the quality of the proposed plan, the project team's qualifications, the budget, and the state's prior experience. The application deadline is July 8, 2025.

The Department of Education has estimated $10,000,000 in available funding for 1-2 awards, with individual grant amounts ranging from $1,000,000 to $10,000,000 per year. The grants will support annual per-pupil financing for charter school facilities, with states required to provide an increasing share of project costs over the course of the grant period, starting at 10% in the first year and reaching 80% by the fifth year.
