About this opportunity
The Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) is offering the Charter Schools Program (CSP) Developer Grants for the Opening of New Charter Schools, Assistance Listing Number 84.282B. This competitive grant program provides funding to enable charter school developers to open new charter schools or replicate/expand high-quality charter schools in states that do not currently have a CSP State Entity grant. Eligible applicants are developers who have applied to an authorized public chartering authority to operate a charter school in a state that specifically authorizes charter schools. The grants may be used for a variety of activities such as teacher/staff preparation, acquiring supplies and equipment, renovations, transportation, and community engagement. The project period is up to 60 months, with no more than 18 months allowed for planning and program design. An invitational priority exists for innovative charter school models.
The total estimated available funds are $5,000,000, with an estimated 6-10 awards ranging from $250,000 to $400,000 per year, with an average award size of $350,000 annually. The charter schools receiving funding through this opportunity must be located in states that do not currently have a CSP State Entity grant.
