About this opportunity

The Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) is seeking applications for the fiscal year 2024 State Charter School Facilities Incentive Grant (SFIG) Program under Assistance Listing Number 84.282D. This grant program provides funding to eligible states to establish or enhance a per-pupil facilities aid program for charter schools, as specified in state law. The key objectives are to increase access to quality charter school facilities and provide annual financing on a per-pupil basis. The application deadline is July 23, 2024, with a notice of intent to apply strongly encouraged by June 24, 2024. Eligible applicants include state governments, and the application will be evaluated based on factors such as the quality of the proposed program, the extent of unmet charter facility needs, and the sustainability of the facilities aid program.

The estimated available funds for this competition are $30 million, with the anticipated range of individual awards being $1 million to $10 million. The Department expects to make 1-3 grant awards with project periods of up to 60 months. Grant recipients will be required to provide an increasing state funding share over the 5-year grant period to support the charter school facilities aid program.
