About this opportunity

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency seeks proposals for its Objective Prediction of Team Effectiveness via Models of Performance Outcomes program. The goal is to determine if bio-behavioral signatures can provide valid, objective metrics of team performance. Applicants such as educational institutions, non-profits, and commercial firms should propose identifying and characterizing bio-behavioral signatures associated with team dynamics in a Marine Corps case study. Proposals will be evaluated on their ability to validate signatures using predictive performance models with over 80% accuracy, 80% F1 score, and demonstrate generalizability across two additional use cases. Full proposals are due by January 31, 2024.

Funding will be provided through cooperative agreements or procurement contracts. Awardees will perform the unclassified work at their own facilities and locations while coordinating with the agency and other partners. Tasks will span multiple technical areas and phases over 42 months, with interim and final reporting of progress towards developing models that advance the fundamental understanding and assessment of team dynamics during training.

Synopsis

Current DoD team training assessment is limited, relying on rudimentary checklists and post-hoc, subjective evaluations of performance that will not be able to scale to future team training requirements. OP TEMPO will explore whether bio-behavioral signals can be used as valid, objective signatures of team performance. OP TEMPO focuses directly on the fundamental research necessary to identify bio-behavioral signatures associated with team cohesion, collaboration, and performance. As such, OP TEMPO will develop the foundation for novel approaches to understand, model, and assess team dynamics during training.
