About this opportunity
The Department of State Bureau of Democracy Human Rights and Labor intends to announce a 2020 Funding Opportunity for its annual awards competition in the coming weeks; this is a notice of intent only and applications are not currently being accepted. Eligible applicants include U.S.-based and foreign nonprofits, public international organizations, institutions of higher learning, and for-profit organizations. The opportunity will support projects under the International Programs to Combat Human Trafficking (CFDA 19.019), which funds prosecution of traffickers, protection and assistance for trafficking victims, and prevention of human trafficking through implementation of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act framework.
The program funds concrete interventions across three pillars: victim protection through shelter services, counseling, medical care, and reintegration support; law enforcement and criminal justice capacity-building to investigate and prosecute trafficking cases; and prevention activities including pre-departure worker orientations, awareness campaigns targeting child marriage and forced marriage, and labor trafficking prevention in high-risk sectors. Work is performed globally, with recent awards funding projects across Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. Awards typically fund up to three years of performance. Recent project awards range from one million to seven million dollars. The TIP Office will post the 2020 Funding Opportunity on SAMS Domestic, Grants.gov, and the TIP Office website in the upcoming weeks. Organizations interested in applying should review the TIP Office's Annual Awards Competition Process in preparation for the formal solicitation announcement.
