About this opportunity

The Department of Energy (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory intends to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) titled "Aligning Manufacturability & Pre-production Design (AMPD) for Storage Technologies." This FOA will seek applications for financial assistance awards to facilitate innovative energy storage technology design solutions that address domestic pre-production manufacturability challenges and improve manufacturability metrics such as production cost, time, volumes, and quality. The design innovations must target materials, subcomponents, components, or systems for stationary, non-mobility energy storage technologies that discharge electricity. The FOA falls under DOE's Electricity Research, Development and Analysis program (CFDA 81.122) and is intended to align pre-production storage system design to enable manufacturing scale-up.

DOE anticipates making up to $8 million in federal funds available under this FOA, with awards having a single budget period not to exceed 3 years. Applicants will be required to provide a minimum 20% non-federal cost share. Projects are expected to be conducted at various locations nationwide, including utility facilities, research institutions, and field demonstration sites.

Synopsis

DISCLAIMER: This "Notice of Intent to Issue" is for informational purposes only; the Department of Energy is not seeking comments on the information in this notice. This is a Notice of Intent to Issue Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) no. DE-FOA-0003425; titled Aligning Manufacturability & Pre-production Design (AMPD) for Storage Technologies. The Department of Energy (DOE) intends to issue a FOA seeking applications for financial assistance awards to facilitate innovative energy storage technology material, subcomponent, component, or system design to improve the manufacturability of one or more energy storage technologies by reducing the overall technology production cost relative to an estimated baseline. Identifying and implementing design innovations will align pre-production storage system design to set the stage for manufacturing scale up.
