About this opportunity

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is soliciting applications from current Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Centers for projects that enhance MEP capabilities in priority areas including Industry 4.0, manufacturing workforce services, supply chain management and resilience, and artificial intelligence applications. Eligible applicants are existing MEP Centers operating under current NIST cooperative agreements, and proposed projects must deliver activities and services beyond those provided under base MEP Center agreements. Selection will be based on merit, with evaluation criteria assessing how proposals achieve statutory requirements outlined in 15 U.S.C. 278k-1(e)(3) and alignment with the identified program themes. Proposals addressing the priority program themes will receive preferential consideration during the selection process. The application deadline is May 8, 2026, with awards distributed through a rolling review process until funds are exhausted.

Cooperative agreement awards are available up to $1 million for projects involving a single MEP Center or up to $5 million for projects involving multiple MEP Centers, with a performance period of up to three years. No cost share is required from applicants. Projects must be performed within the service areas of the participating MEP Centers, which operate across all fifty states and Puerto Rico. Recipients will be subject to standard federal audit requirements and must maintain all financial and programmatic records in accordance with 2 CFR 200.333.
