About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) seeks applicants for support of conferences and scientific meetings relevant to the NIOSH mission and occupational safety and health, with applications due by a deadline not specified in this source material.
This cooperative agreement funds high-quality scientific gatherings—including symposia, seminars, workshops, and virtual meetings—where participants coordinate, exchange, and share information on occupational safety and health topics. Applications must address and advance research topics aligned with NIOSH program priorities. Training-only events are not eligible. Substantial federal scientific or programmatic involvement is expected; federal staff may assist, guide, coordinate, or participate in project activities.
Eligible applicants include state, county, city, and tribal governments; special district and school district governments; public and private higher education institutions; nonprofits with and without 501(c)(3) status; for-profit organizations and small businesses; public and Indian housing authorities; and faith-based or community-based organizations. Non-domestic entities and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible.
The award instrument is a cooperative agreement. The program operates under CFDA 93.262 (Occupational Safety and Health Program). Project periods range from one to five years depending on scientific review group recommendations and demonstration of successful performance. Awards are evaluated on scientific and technical merit, investigator competency, facility adequacy, budget necessity, and relevance to stated program objectives. NIOSH conducts two-step review: scientific peer review followed by the NIOSH Secondary Review Committee assessment for program relevance, with final approval by the NIOSH Director.
Forecast synopsis
The purpose of the NIOSH Support for Conferences and Scientific Meetings (U13) program is to support high-quality scientific meetings, conferences, and workshops that are relevant to the NIOSH mission and that promote occupational safety and health. The conference program is an important part of the NIOSH mission. Applications should address and advance research topics in occupational safety and health that align with NIOSH program priorities. A conference or scientific meeting is a gathering, symposium, seminar, workshop, or other organized meeting in which participants meet in person or virtually to coordinate, exchange, and share information or to explore and clarify a specific topic, problem, or area of knowledge. This cooperative agreement is used when substantial federal scientific or programmatic involvement is expected, and federal staff may assist, guide, coordinate, or participate in project activities before and after the award. Applications for training-only events will not be considered under this announcement.
Eligibility
Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Institutions) are not eligible to apply. Non-domestic (non-U.S.) components of U.S. Organizations are not eligible to apply. Foreign components, as defined in the HHS Grants Policy Statement, are not allowed.
