About this opportunity

The Native American Library Services Basic Grant (2025) is a funding opportunity from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to assist Native American Tribes in establishing, sustaining, and improving library services and operations within their communities. The program supports Tribes across the country to address their individual information needs and priorities, with a focus on four key objectives: acquiring library materials, supporting community programming, training library staff, or a combination thereof. Eligible applicants are federally recognized Indian Tribes that offer library and/or archival services to their communities. The application deadline is February 4, 2025, and the NOFO provides instructions for preparing the required application components, including a Library Services Plan and IMLS Budget Form, as well as details on the application review process and post-award administration requirements.

The NAB program is expected to award approximately $1.7 million across 170 grants ranging from $6,000 to $10,000, with $10,000 being the typical award amount. Projects must be carried out at tribal libraries or community centers serving Native populations, with a performance period of August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026.
