Synopsis

The National Collaboration to Promote Health, Wellness, and Academic Success of School-Age Children – CDC-RFA-DP16-1601- is focused on promoting and implementing evidence-based policies, practices, and programs in five priority areas. National non-government organizations (NGOs) will support states, school districts, and/or schools to achieve the short, intermediate-, and long-term outcomes. There are three strategies and associated activities in this FOA: 1) professional development and technical assistance; 2) education and dissemination; and 3) partnership and coordination activities. These three categories of strategies and the associated activities will provide school health and education leaders in states, districts, and/or schools with greater knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop and implement evidence-based policies, practices, and programs. These strategies have broad reach, sustained health impact, and are a good investment for public health. The three strategies will be applied in five priority areas: 1) Physical Education and Physical Activity, 2) Nutrition Environment and Services, 3) Out of School Time Healthy Eating and Physical Activity, 4) School Health Services for Managing Chronic Conditions, 5) School Health Services for Promoting Sexual Health.
