About this opportunity
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is soliciting applications for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nutrition Training Program, a grant funded under the Special Projects of Regional and National Significance (SPRANS) program (CFDA 93.110), with no specific application deadline provided in this forecast notice.
Eligible applicants are domestic non-profit institutions of higher education (public and private) located in the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Republic of Palau. Individuals are not eligible. The program does not specify cost share or matching requirements in this forecast.
MCH Nutrition Training Programs will provide interdisciplinary graduate education to build a skilled workforce in maternal and child health nutrition, deliver technical assistance to state Title V and other MCH programs, expand nutrition education and career pathways, and improve access to high-quality nutrition services through trainee placements and practicums at health centers. Competitive awards are made for up to 2 to 5 years, subject to availability of funds. After initial awards, annual non-competing continuations may be made contingent on submission of progress reports and a determination that continued funding serves the federal government's interests.
SPRANS historically makes competitive awards across diverse MCH training and research activities. Recent awards in related MCH training programs have ranged from $150 thousand to $12.41 million. Final funding decisions are issued 4 to 6 months after application receipt. All qualified applications are reviewed by an objective review committee; the HRSA program official with delegated authority makes final selection decisions. Evaluation criteria will be included in the full notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) when released.
