About this opportunity
The Small Business Administration is soliciting applications for the Manufacturing in America Empower to Grow (E2G) Grant Initiative to fund organizations providing hands-on, in-person manufacturing training and technical assistance to eligible small manufacturing businesses, with applications due June 18, 2026.
Eligible applicants are for-profit or not-for-profit entities, small businesses, higher education institutions (public and private), and other established organizations with at least three years of continuous operating history and demonstrated experience delivering hands-on, in-person technical assistance to small manufacturing businesses on a regional or national basis. No matching funds are required. The SBA anticipates awarding up to ten grants of $5 million each from an estimated $50 million total funding pool, with a fixed 12-month performance period and project start dates within 30 calendar days of award notification. Award funds must be expended in full during the performance period; no cost extensions are available.
Applicants must allocate no more than 49 percent of award funds to contractor and consultant costs. Eligible firms receiving training are small businesses located in high unemployment or low-income areas, owned by low-income individuals, or eligible for the SBA's 8(a) program. All training services must be provided free of charge. Target industries include aerospace, shipbuilding, rail equipment, mining, industrial machinery, construction equipment, metal fabrication, electrical equipment, food processing, medical and precision manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, and robotics.
Evaluation criteria (100 points maximum) include organizational experience and capacity (25 points), project management (20 points), project design (35 points), collaboration and resource leveraging (10 points), and ability to reach special target markets (10 points). Applicants must document five performance metrics: 12-month placement rate, 24-month retention rate, employer rehire rate, cost per placement, and wage competitiveness at placement. The program operates under CFDA 59.007, 7(j) Technical Assistance. Electronic submission through Grants.gov is mandatory by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on the due date.
